Seat chart ideas

So for our seating chart, I'm just going to get a big piece of wood, cover it in chalk board paint and then write the names on it. Maybe just black paint and paint the names on so it looks like chalkboard but yeah, I think it'll be cool. Idk, either that it an old repurposed window. The point is, it'll be one of those two and it'll be awesome. Even though I kind of hate seat charts, with as big as the wedding is going to be (UGH) I basically will have to.

Adding more Harry Potter into our wedding!

Today, Jason and I discussed that we will put more HP into our wedding. This includes bottles labeled with potion names (amortentia, Felix felicies, etc), the minister mentioning the 'unbreakable vow' during our hand fasting, snitches on all the tables, oh yeah and WANDS AS FAVORS!!!!!!!

Figured out how to make the paper flower bouquets! For the bridesmaids and best woman, I will buy smaller styrofoam balls and cut them in half then glue their flowers to the styrofoam, creating a rounded look but also a light weight bouqet!

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

And another few things I have to make: the sleeves for my wedding dress and the "oh s#!+" kits for the bridesmaids, - aka chap stick, ibuprofen, deodorant, mini sewing kit, tampons, hair spray, static guard, bobby pins, and such. Oi.

Just a few ideas to jot down quickly.
I have a ton of DIY stuff to do. I need to:
Make a wedding play book- day of stand here, be here at this time, call these people with these numbers.
Make the wedding backdrop/ arch
Finish the flowers
Save the dates
Wedding invitations
Play and do not play lists
Felix Felicis labels for the bubbles
Draw the bride and groom for the phenokistascope favors
Paint the "guest book" aka wall art canvas to be signed (could design on fb and print at Walmart)
Woodburn the in memory sign
Pew bows
Flower girls dresses

I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of. I know I can do it but the list is daunting. Only 221 days left!

Decided on favors!

We're making phenokistascopes and little test tubes with hot cocoa mix in it!

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

OH MY GOD! Instead of buying bubbles, I'm going to buy little tiny jars and attach bubble wands to pieces of cork. And we will label them as Felix Felicis! Look at this!

Oh. My. God.
Jason and I decided on our wedding invitations. Along with our theme of Big Fat Geek Wedding, we've decided to on Marauders Map Invites!
So I looked up Harry potter wedding stuff, and I'm totally nerdgasming.

It's been a long time since I posted anything…

Well, I haven't updated in a while. I haven't really had a lot to say. Except for…I AM SO BORED!
William basically finish wedding planning. Basically the only thing we have left to do is hire a photographer, hire a DJ, send out our save the dates and invitations, get engagement pictures taken, finish folding all the paper flowers, and build our backdrop. We have eight months left of this engagement. I'm running out of things to do and things to occupy myself. I am bored out of my mind. I'm going to kick myself for saying this. But I almost missed college. I miss always having something to do. Literally, I go to work come home to eat dinner and I sleep. I sleep a lot. I've watched like everything on Netflix and everything on the DVR, I'm running out of things to do. I didn't realize that civilian life was so boring. I wish I hadn't so vehement in the wedding planning early on in our engagement, at least then I would still have something to do. I'm doing right now, is working a whole bunch so that I can afford this wedding. Like, the wedding planning itself is finished. Now it's just doing a whole bunch of little things to get ready.

But hear some good news, my wedding just come is in the end of this week! I will finally get to try on my dress, the address was made for me, that hasn't been tried on by 15 or 20 other people. I can't wait to see it on me :)

I really do believe that I won't be doing a traditional guest book.
I think I'm going to buy a bunch of fabric and fabric pens and ask everyone to grab a piece of paper and get creative. At which point I'll sew it into a big (useful) blanket of love :)

Table number ideas!

District 12
Gallifrey
Mystic Falls
Oz
Ravenclaw Common Room
The great hall- head table since we have all 4 houses represented.
Diagon Alley
Torchwood
Room of requirement
Table 9 and 3/4
The Capitol- where my mom would sit
221b Baker Street
The '64 Impala (baby)
Sunnydale

Still thinking of a few others. Hopefully, I'll only need 12-14 tables

Oh. My. God.

oh my god oh my god, instead of having traditional table numbers, we're going to have color fandom named tables like Endor, Gallifrey, Ravenclaw house, District 12, and all sorts! I'm so excited!

Update.

So, I'm a little broke right now. Between going to the UK this summer for graduation trip and buying a lot of wedding things recently, I don't have a ton of money. Now normally this would worry me, but then I got to thinking. By spending a little bit more now, closer to the wedding I won't have as much financial stress. Grant you it's a little scary now, but I really feel like we have a good handle on things. Besides, now that the majority of the expensive stuff is done, i.e. bridesmaids dresses, wedding dresses, and all the little things that go with said wedding dress, and a bunch of other really big expenses like the church and the reception hall, now it's just a few more little things, and paying off said big things. And what's really awesome about that, is that because we got a jump on it earlier, we have more time to pay off those big bills. I'm getting really excited.

Sunday, March 16, 2014

So today I bought the hangers and the wood burning tool to make all the bridal party personalized hangers :)
They'll look something like this

Saturday, March 15, 2014

Figured out the bridesmaids dresses!

It's beautiful, black and it has a lace top with a keyhole back. Also it is very flattering on all body types, it looked amazing on Tara.  Plus, funny story, we decided to try it on with the pregnancy belly just to make sure in case anyone is pregnant at the time of. And, believe it or not it looked amazing. And here's the best part, I tried on my dress next to Tara in the black bridesmaid dress, and it matches the lacy part on my dress perfectly. Now, because Jason reads, I don't want to post that on here,  but yeah, it's awesome.

Here's some pretty pics!

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

So I lieu of needing a table, Jason and I decided that the sand ceremony was not for us. But I've done some research and I'm kind of in love with the idea of a hand fasting ceremony. It'stypically a pagan thing but I think could be easily transferred into a Christian ritual. I like the idea of us taking a cord of three strands (Bible verse!) to bind us together, thus representing me, Jason and God being forever tied together because of cord of three strands (representing Jason, me and God) is not easily broken!

Never mind. This. This is the perfect cake.
I of course would take the snitches off (or at least make them smaller or removable) but yeah that'll go great with our tardis cake topper.

I really freaking want a polka dotted cake.
Essentially this one but with just black dots :)

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

So I'm 99% sure I'm doing Bella Swan hair for my wedding. Not because I'm a crazy fan girl (I am) but because it's elegant but natural and I can do it easily with my thin/fine hair :)

Pic time!!

Sunday, February 23, 2014

I have devised a brilliant idea for my coverage options for my wedding. Ok so like I wanted cap sleeves added but when I put them on, they reminded me of someone I don't like very much. So I've decided to do like a bridal "coat" or wrap that I can take off at the reception. So basically my idea is to make it myself, just a long strip of tulle, with satin covered buttons sewn to one end. The tulle "jacket" would be wrapped low across my shoulders, wrapped under my arms, then buttoned in the back. That way I get a cover for my shoulders, but also it won't take away from the detail on the front of my dress! Yay!

Also, if my hairstylist can achieve it, this is how I want my hair.

I'm not evenin joking, this is how I want my wedding makeup to look like this.

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

Also another idea. Ok so the reception hall provides our centerpieces, which is the hurricane lamps with candles and rose petals. We have to purchase the red petals that I want since they only provide the white ones. But when we went in for a viewing of the place before we booked, I saw that a couple had sewn their own table runners and it really rounded off the tables. I think I might like to make table runners. A red and gold damask would be hella right and really tie everything together :)
I have an awesome idea for leaving the church after the ceremony. We act like we're going to leave all normal, go down the separate stairs and meet in the middle then the music will start playing some ridiculously hard song, we pull ray bands out of our pocket/bouquet and then walk out like were too cool for school.

Update!

Okay, so I bought my wedding dress! Now that that big stress is off my back, wedding planning is fun again :)
Jason and I loosened our theme up a little bit, we're calling it nerd/geek themed so that it can incorporate all the things that were obsessed with. For example, our wedding attire is based off my obsession with period costuming. The cake topper references doctor who, our grooms men are going to carry lightsabers and my girls are going to carry Harry Potter wands! The music is going to feature A LOT of my favorite band and my girls are going to wear gym shoes or flip flops or something under their dresses to break the traditional stuff. I'm going to wear red shoes! Jason and I actually sat and flipped through an oriental trader magazine with wedding stuff and picked out things together so we've got a lot of ideas now and we're really enjoying the planning process again now that I'm not stressed beyond belief.

Thursday, February 13, 2014

But a bit of good news is I've been in contact with several custom wedding dress makers. Looks like I will be getting my dream dress made specifically for me, for between $325 and $525! Now I just need to go get an idea of what I want before I send her my measurements.
So basically the only things I know about my wedding is that I won't be wearing a veil, the bridesmaids are carrying lanterns instead of flowers and what song I'm walking down the aisle to. This week has been so shitty because of the anxiety attacks induced by the prospect of trying on dresses in from of 1000 people.

Wednesday, February 12, 2014

I'm having an existential crisis. Like seriously, I'm on the verge of tears. I have no clue what I want in a wedding dress anymore. I thought I knew but now I'm totally lost.
Everyone kept putting doubts in m mind telling me I should go try on more dresses. I'm having panic just thinking about that. I don't want to go to yet another bridal salon with pushy sales people putting me in too small gowns and telling me to "imagine it fitting right". I want to be celebrated not degraded. I want the bridal experience that every woman wants. I'm genuinely considering having the dress custom made for me. To be able to get essentially my dream dress custom fitted to me, it would only be $995. But there lies the problem. That's really expensive, I'm poor. I'm confused, irritated and very upset. I wish we could just elope.

Ideas for my processional song

I really wanted to walk down the aisle to the across the universe version of "blackbird" but I cannot find an instrumental version. I don't like the beat to the actual Beatles version so I've come to the conclusion that I must make a new decision.
Right now, I'm liking the idea of an instrumental version of a Panic! At The Disco song.
Either
  1. Northern Downpour
  2. The End Of All Things
  3. Collar Full
  4. Always
If not,
  1. This I Promise You- NSYNC
  2. I Do (Cherish You)- 98 degrees
  3. Requiem on Water- Imperial Mammoth
  4. Turning Page- Sleeping At Last

Wednesday, February 5, 2014

Also, as depressing as the lyrics of the song are, I think I want the bridesmaids to walk into "miserable at best" by mayday parade, piano version of course.
Check it
Dude! I think I've figured out our recessional song! Plus it's another way for me to incorporate Panic! into the wedding. Check out this video of a piano cover of Always. It's pretty freaking perfect.

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

Alright, it has been decided. Somehow, we are combining our Edwardian theme and geeky elements like a tardis cake topper. Our theme is so weird.

Saturday, January 25, 2014

So I was thinking over men's fashion for our wedding, and I think we're going to do just regular suits but either omit the vest, or many it match the shirt. I think I'd rather taken it out all together and have the men wear suspenders over their white dress shirt at the reception.

Thursday, January 23, 2014

Just decided on my wedding shoes!! Gold sparkly flats! I'll get some white flats, like ballets shoes, spray them gold, throw glitter on them and then some sealant. I'm excited!!

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

So we're making lace flowers instead of real or paper. And I'm pretty sure the girls are just getting corsages. Because carrying flowers is awkward and vaguely funeraral.

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Oh, and we've decided to have a wedding song montage. We can't decide on one song and we're not really super lovey dovey. So we'll have a traditional wedding song to start, then move into a bunch of awesome songs like panic, don't stop believin and a few others. But shhh, it's a secret :)
Okay, so we ran into a problem with our our wedding venue. Our church doesn't have a center aisle. I don't know if it's gonna be possible to separate the chairs to make a center aisle. In remedy, my sister Tara came up with a great idea. Instead of a center aisle, we're going to have both the groomsmen and the bridesmaids to walk down the aisle together. The bridesmaids will walk down the right hand aisle and the groomsmen on the left. When they reach the end of the aisle, they will meet in the middle, before going onto the stage, do a spin together with the "near touch palms" so everyone can see them and their dresses. My dad and I will do the same. Meet in the middle, spin in front so everyone can see us. Then after he "gives me away" he'll escort me to the stairs on the left side to go up onto the stage. Jason will then take my hand and we will walk hand in hand to the middle of the stage. We will not do the near touch. When everyone leaves, Jason and I will leave via the right stair case, cross in front of the church and walk down the left aisle. The bridal party will then go down the stairs they came up, meet in the middle, do a turn and walk down the opposite aisle they came down. That way our guests all get to see everyone's outfits at some point while they walk down the aisle.
It might seem a bit theatrical, but I love it and it's romantic. The wedding will be very romanic. Now the reception on the other hand will be a big crazy party.
Haha in line with the titanicish theme, the wedding will be a first class party and the reception will be a 3rd class party.

Sunday, January 12, 2014

So since we're making our dresses, mine and my bridesmaids, I've been looking at fabrics. I'm kind of in love with this collection at Joanne's fabric. It's called Casa Collection and they have the colors and fabrics I need for my dress and for most of the bridesmaids dresses :)

Friday, January 10, 2014

Ok, so I know it's been awhile

So I made a big decision tonight. I'm going to make my own wedding dress.
My sister saw all the dresses I liked and said "I have the perfect dress for you".
She was right! I'm undecided about if I will wear a white dress or not but THIS IS MY WEDDING DRESS. It might be a different color but yeah, this is it!!
Maybe these colors!
And my bridesmaids will be in thesr dresses, except more in the black and red color like the first picture.
I'm so beyond excited and happy. I actually FEEL like a bride and excited about this wedding! Yay!
Time to start a new board on Pinterest to get hairstyle and shoes ideas!
Yay!

Friday, January 3, 2014

It's official! Jason and I have booked our reception hall. We're getting married at Receptions in Erlanger on 1.24.2015! 1 year and 19 days to go!

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

I'm in love with love sleeve lace dresses like princess Kate's dress. Now to find one I love, in my price range.
